Make Pizza Dough at Home Your Way and Save

Add a bread maker to make it even easier

This recipe is for folks who don’t have a bread maker as well as for those who do. It’s nice to tweak and customize the dough for your current mood. Substitute some whole wheat for the BBQ Chicken Pizza recipe on the right, inspired by California Pizza Kitchen’s dish.

The one on the left below uses pesto, green olives, pepperoni, onions and roasted red peppers. I like Mama Lil’s peppers. Find Mama Lil’s, pizza paddle, screen and a cutter in my Cooking and Foods list on Amazon. This is an affiliate link. I may make a spiff if you make a purchase, but you will never pay more.

A bread maker takes the work out of making your own pizza. This is great for the budget with ingredients most folks have at home. You can make this (and we have) when you don't have a bread maker. We like to substitute some whole wheat for some of the white flour.

Bread maker version:
Heat 1 1/4 cups water to 110 degrees. Stir in yeast and let sit for 2 minutes. Drop into bread maker and add oil and honey. Add flour and salt last. Use Pizza Dough setting. Ours takes 50 minutes in the bread maker.
We may substitute 1 cup of wheat flour for 1 cup of white flour. The Honey-Wholewheat crust is great with BBQ chicken pizza.
Add 1/4 tsp of dry Italian dressing mix, such as Good Seasons or garlic powder.
